We admire and give thanks for those men and women who have
walked into battle, put themselves in harm’s way, knowing that there was no chance they would make it out alive. They lay down their lives for the freedom and protection of others.
Which is why we admire and love and give thanks for the Lord
Jesus today, and every day.
Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:4-5
